MoveOn.org Offering to Fund Primary Challenger to Baron Hill
It seems that lefty 527 and internet powerhouse MoveOn.org has a standing offer in the field to raise money for primary opponents of any Democratic congressman that dared vote against their party line on Iraq.
I guess that Baron Hill's vote for retreat-with-funding does not suit such far left groups; they prefer retreat-with-no-funding instead.
It also appears that a lot of the nutroots--the sorts of people that dwell in Bloomington, the hippy blue dot in the midst of the red (or redneck) 9th Congressional district--aren't too happy with the votes of some Democrats to continue to fund the troops.
Some of them put it quite bluntly:
These Democrats do not deserve to be re-elected to Congress in 2006. Anti-war Democrats in their congressional districts need to find more reliable Democrats to challenge them, and replace them as the Democratic nominees to the House of Representatives in 2008.
Might we be looking at another primary challenge to Baron Hill, or even a third-party peace candidacy coming out of Bloomington?
There sure seems to be a big pile of free money sitting there waiting for someone to take it and challenge Baron Hill in 2008--not in the general election, but in his own party's primary.
Free money, of course, tends to find someone willing to take it.
