Show Me the Money: IN 5; McGoff Fading Fast with Poor Q3 FEC Filing

Everybody knew that John McGoff had an uphill battle ahead of him to unseat incumbent Congressman Dan Burton in a primary fight.

But it seems that the money is drying up for Dr. McGoff.

His latest filing reports fundraising of only around $21,000, expenditures of over $54,000, and cash on hand of slightly over $81,500.

Compared to Burton, those numbers tell the story of a primary challenge that seems to be fading fast.

"Winners" are in italics.

Starting Cash-on-Hand:
Dan Burton: $836,382.64
John McGoff: $115,162.26

Q3 Net Receipts (Contributions):
Dan Burton: $189,684.50
John McGoff: $20,999.00

Q3 Individual Receipts:
Dan Burton: $159,842.00
John McGoff: $20,999.00

Q3 Committee Receipts (from PACs and special interests):
Dan Burton: $29,694.50
John McGoff: $0.00

Q3 Disbursements (Expenditures):
Dan Burton: $159,717.70
John McGoff: $54,743.02

Ending Cash-on-Hand:
Dan Burton: $871,066.92
John McGoff: $81,518.24

Um, yeah. Not a lot much more to say here.

And, no, I didn't get this from the Burton press people (though I am sure they will be touting it to high heaven very soon); I'm not in the 5th District and all that matters to me in this whole thing is that the seat is held by a Republican.

I will be posting more about various campaign finance reports for other races in the coming days.
