The Obamassiah: The Choice of NARAL
NARAL is the National Abortion Rights Action League, which describes itself thus:
For more than 30 years, NARAL Pro-Choice America has been the leading national advocate for personal privacy and a woman's right to choose. Even before women won the right to safe, legal abortion – when some women died as the result of illegal, unsafe abortions - NARAL Pro-Choice America has championed reproductive freedom.
And NARAL has endorsed the Obamassiah.
This has not made its pro-Hillary base of supporters happy.
It is, however, supremely enlightening about the views of Barack Obama with regard to abortion.
Far from "transcending politics", the Obamassiah is a down-the-line lefty, with the most liberal voting record in the United States Senate.
In his time in Illinois, Obama voted against that state's version of the Born Alive Protection Act (called in Illinois the "Induced Infant Liability Act"), a piece of legislation that would have made it a crime to kill a baby that survived a botched late-term or partial-birth abortion.
Even NARAL would not go that far. Only 15 members of the House of Representatives voted against the federal version of the bill, and it passed the Senate with a voice vote.
The bill, in essence ensured protections for "the unborn" in the event that an abortion failed and they became "the born."
If he had been in the US Senate at the time, Barack Obama would have been the lone vote against protecting the born, it seems. As it stands, he merely voted against protecting the born in Illinois (which is bad enough).
