Baron's in the Money

Baron HillWith times being tough for a lot of Hoosiers (what with gas being almost four bucks a gallon and all, among other things), I found it interesting that Baron Hill's recent personal finance disclosure had a new addition.

Page five of the form reveals that Baron has, last year, somehow managed to bank some serious big bucks. The form doesn't say an exact amount, but Baron has suddenly found between $100,001 and $250,000 to put in a new account with Savings Indiana Bank.

Just how much money does Baron have in the bank now, and where did it come from?

That's an awful lot of money--potentially almost a quarter of a million dollars--to just materialize out of nowhere in just one year.

I seem to recall him saying something a while back about running "a more transparent campaign."

Maybe he can start by explaining where this big new pile of money came from.

UPDATE: And to answer some nattering from the seats on the left, some clarity is obviously necessary. It is Baron Hill that has tried to make transparency an issue in the campaign, yet it is Baron Hill that is being hypocritical in not being all that transparent, as the lack of disclosure about his above filing demonstrates.

If Baron wants to be a champion of transparency, then he had better be fully open and transparent. Thus far, he has made a few symbolic but ultimately meaningless and empty gestures.

Moreover, the gestures he has made have started to raise questions. Those questions should be relatively easy to answer.

Will Baron Hill, the supposed champion of transparency, answer them?
